On the basis of Donbass State Pedagogical University in Slovyansk in continuation of cooperation with the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" in October 2020 The Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support was opened in.
The work of the Center will be aimed at conducting research and educational activities, implementation of research projects in the field of psychology, psychology of trauma, psychosocial rehabilitation and psychosocial support. The applied direction of the Center's activity includes the provision of psychological, rehabilitation, information services in the region.
In order to ensure the functioning of the Center, representatives of Donbas State Pedagogical University together with practical psychologists underwent a 10-day training according to the SETA method.. Providing individual psychological counseling services SETA for veterans, members of their families and internally displaced persons will now be implemented in the communities of Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Severodonetsk and Toretsk. All specialists will work under supervision.
The training was conducted by SETA Trainers - Chernobrovkina Vira (doctor of psychological sciences, Professor of the Department of Psychology and Pedagogy, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy) and Pavlo Gorbenko (supervisor and psychologist of the NaUKMA Center for Psychosocial Rehabilitation, family psychotherapist).
Currently, trained consultants will not only help, who needs it at the center and in the community, but also join the study of the effectiveness of a new psychosocial intervention - seminars for veterans, veterans and members of their families, experiencing daily stress. This study is being implemented in Ukraine by the NaUKMA Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support and Johns Hopkins University with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

About the CETA program:
SETA is a psychological assistance program, focused on the needs of veterans and their families. In Ukraine, SETA is implemented by the project group of the Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support NaUKMA (National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy) with financial support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with 2015 year.
The CETA program was developed by Johns Hopkins University mental health researchers as part of a cognitive-behavioral approach. Now it is effectively used to work with traumatic experiences by specialists around the world: USA, Iraq, Burma, Thailand, Zambia, Ethiopia.
The program was adapted for Ukraine, to meet the needs of Ukrainian veterans, displaced persons and volunteers. Research, which was conducted in Ukraine within the project, showed, that the SETA program significantly reduces depression, anxiety, symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and improves the performance of veterans, migrants and members of their families.
